4 Technologies That Will Improve Your Experience at the Dentist

Technology is advancing at a faster and faster rate every day. What is your dentist doing to keep up? We’re happy you asked! At Valley Dental Clinic, we are implementing technologies that both improve patient experience and raise the bar for the local dental industry. Keep reading to learn more.

1. Electronic Claims

At Valley Dental Clinic, we want our insurance process to be as quick and painless as possible for our patients. That’s why we use dental technology like electronic claims to expedite the process. With electronic claims, we will submit your insurance claim to your provider electronically rather than by mail, which is much faster and allows for fewer errors. What this means for you is a quicker turnaround time and fewer denied claims, so that you can save more money on your dental bills!

2. Digital X-Rays

Dentists have been using x-ray technology for years, but only recently have we adopted digital x-rays, a quicker, clearer, and safer technique for our patients. Digital x-rays are taken by placing a small electronic sensor in the mouth. Just as soon as the image is taken, it is uploaded to a computer screen. This allows you and your dentist to discuss the image right away, rather than wait on chemical processing. Digital x-rays are also much clearer; easier to view and spot issues. Because they are stored electronically, digital x-rays can be easily shared with you and other providers via e-mail. Finally, one of the greatest benefits of digital x-rays is their safety—exposing the patient to 90% less radiation.

3. Intra-Oral Camera

Have you ever wished you could see what the dentist is looking at while they examine your mouth? Now you can! With an intra-oral camera, we can show you what we are looking at, providing you with a video tour of your dental issues during your appointment. All we do is place the intra-oral camera in your mouth, which is similar in size to a dental mirror or pick. We can pause, zoom in, and even take pictures during our tour so that you know exactly what you’re looking at and why.

4. Paperless Charting

Everything at Valley Dental Clinic is going digital, especially our medical charts! We store your dental records in a secure, electronic location so they are easy for our team to access, edit, and share with other providers. Electronic medical records (EMRs) are also easier for our team to read than handwriting, promoting more accurate information for better dental care for you, the patient.

From digital records to advanced imaging technology, Valley Dental Clinic is on the leading edge of dental innovation both locally for the Mat-Su Valley and on a national scale. As always, our goal is to create better patient experiences by building trust, comfort, and relationships—sometimes that requires introducing new technology! If you would like to talk with your dentist about what these changes mean for you, we would be happy to take your call.
